Tanzania: Arusha Police Name Suspected Terror Ringleader

Arusha Police on Thursday (July 31st) named Yahya Hassan Hella, alias Sensei, as a "most wanted" terror suspect, saying he is believed to be the ringleader behind numerous recent acts of violence in Arusha and Zanzibar, Tanzania's The Citizen reported.

"We have established that he is not only behind the grenade and acid attacks in Arusha, but is the chief co-ordinator of this terror network," Arusha Regional Police Commander Liberatus Sabas said.

Sensei is from the Kondoa district of Dodoma region and was working with several accomplices who police are also pursuing, Sabas told a Tanzanian court at an arraignment hearing for two terror suspects.

"We have the names of key suspects who have fled Arusha and gone into hiding in other parts of Tanzania and outside the country," he said.

Tanzanian police have more than two dozen suspects in custody in connection with recent attacks across the country.
