Nigeria: Professional Forum Carpets Enugu Dep Gov

Enugu — Enugu States Deputy Governor, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, has come under criticism, following the defence he put up against his planned impeachment.

This Enugu Professionals Forum (EPF) on Saturday described his defence as untenable and utterly dismissible, contending that the deputy governor was only intent on currying unmerited sympathy from the public.

The group, in a statement signed by its secretary-general, Nebechi Ugo, said Onyebuchi's response was full of falsehood and inaccuracies that were either as a result ignorance or a deliberate attempt by to deceive the public.

EPF pointed out that while the House of Assembly had accused the deputy governor of operating a commercial poultry in a residential quarters, in violation of a resolution of the House, Onyebuchi, in his defence, deliberately omitted the word "commercial" and instead went to tell "long and winding tales "of how the poultry came to be.

"The question is not whether the deputy governor was keeping a poultry in his residential quarters but whether he was running a commercial poultry there. "
