Malawi: Woman Commits Suicide Over Order to Share Maize Harvest With Lazy Brother

Mzuzu — A 40-year-old woman in Chitipa District recently committed suicide after her father ordered her to share maize she had just harvested with her brother who did not take part in cultivation, police have confirmed.

Northern Region Police deputy publicist Paul Tembo told Malawi News Agency (Mana) in an interview Wednesday that the diseased, Getrude Kalawo, disagreed with her father's decision to share the maize equally with her lazy brother.
