Nairobi — Kenya Airways has strengthened its position as a leading African carrier with receipt of a third Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
The aircraft landed on Sunday at the airline's hub at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi at 1440 hours. It was flown in by Captain John Mathias Kimani, who is also the B787 Fleet manager.
Kenya Airways' Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Titus Naikuni said that delivery of the third B787 stamps its position in the African skies as the airline with the largest network in the continent, and the youngest and most modern fleet.
"The Dreamliner is our flagship aircraft. We are investing in this model as part of our fleet renewal programme, not only because of its advanced features but also the boost it gives to our long haul capability," Naikuni added.
In addition to the 3rd Dreamliner, the airline now boast of the best and convenient airport transport following the acquisition of two new infield shuttle buses to help ease customer movement.
"These apron buses will help ease congestion in transfer of our intercontinental clients to the International arrivals terminal upon arrival, as well as help our client save time within the airport", added Naikuni.
The airline expects to take delivery of three more Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircrafts by the end of the year.
The first two Dreamliners - named 'Great Rift Valley' and 'Zambezi River' - have already been deployed to commercial service flying to Paris and Johannesburg respectively.
