Liberia: Western Cluster Donates Materials to Bomi to Prevent Ebola

As part of the fight against the deadly EBOLA virus in Liberia, Western Cluster Limited (WCL) on Friday donated a consignment of sanitary materials -chloride (bleach) and hand washing buckets to the people of Bomi County, one of the two counties in Western Liberia where the company operates iron ore concessions.

Bomi is also among counties where the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare recently reported confirmed cases of the virus which resulted into deaths of some citizens including the county's main hospital's Chief Administrator.

During the presentation ceremony at the company's Monrovia Office, WCL's Executive Director, Atul Mittal, said the donation of the sanitary materials to the county is in line with the company's policy to always work with communities within its concession areas during good and challenging periods.

Mr Mittal noted that because of the EBOLA situation in Liberia, Bomi County is going through challenging moment and advised residents to act safe and carry out the necessary hygienic methods as surest ways of preventing the deadly virus, adding, "The good health of the Liberian people is our main concern"

Receiving the donation, Bomi County Superintendent, Samuel F. Brown accompanied by Senator Sando Dazoe Johnson, commended WCL for always identifying with the people of Bomi. He said, "Western Cluster has always been a true partner to our county. The company has done a lot for Bomi including not missing out on its annual social development funds contributions; supported the Bomi County Community College through educational and learning materials; conducted free medical services where more than 5000 persons benefited; constructed bridges; rehabilitated roads among others".

For his part, Senator Johnson commended the company and indicated: "anyone who identifies with people during times of problems is a real friend and partner"

Senator Johnson said the donation by Western Cluster Limited is timely and assured the materials will be distributed to the intended recipients.
