Uganda: Refinery Saga Setting a Bad Precedent

Kampala — Even before Uganda starts selling its oil, conflicts surrounding the compensation of people who have been displaced by the oil refinery project hovers over the extractive industry in a bad way, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have expressed.

While addressing journalists, Beatrice Rukanyanga of Kwatanisa Women's Group a Community Based Organization (CBO) in Buseruka recently said half of the entitled people have not received their compensation.
