Makerere University don Abasi Kiyimba has urged Ugandan parents in the UK to teach children local languages as a way of preserving their cultures.
Professor Kiyimba, the deputy Principle of the college of Humanities and Social Sciences, says it is easier for children to lose their sense of direction if they can't speak their indigenous languages. Kiyimba spoke last weekend at a gathering of Baganda and their well-wishers in Manchester, UK, at the start the Ttaffaali fundraising drive.
