Gambia: Savage's Champions League Hopes Ended By Apoel Defeat

Gambian international Demba Savage's UEFA Champions League hopes were ended on Wednesday when his Finnish Champions HJK Helsinki was beaten 2-0 at APOEL FC in Cyprus.

APOEL made home advantage count as Argentine Tomas De Vincenti inspired the hosts to an assured victory which secured a play-off spot following a 4-2 aggregate win. Cillian Sheridan scored after 17 minutes and a converted penalty by De Vincenti just before half-time proved too much for the Finnish champions to overcome.
