Somalia: Health Minister Sacked, PM Names Former Official

Mogadishu — Federal Government of Somalia's Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed has sacked Minister of Health Gen. Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud, appointing former official to the post, Garowe Online reports.

Prime Minister Mohamed Saturday handpicked Ali Mohamed Mohamud (Ali Hared) who served as Wildlife and Tourism Minister in President Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed's transitional government.

It was unclear whether Gen. Mohamud was unseated due to his ailing health. Ali Hared comes from the same clan as the sacked minister.

Somalia Prime Minister previously accepted resignation letter from former Minister of National Security Abdikarin Hussein Gulled and assigned the current Khalif Ahmed Ereg to the ministerial post.
