Kenya: Booker's Music Tutor Dies in Crash

Booker Academy, Mumias, has dedicate their winning piece to their fallen Kiswahili teacher, Wicliff Anyasia.

Anyasia died when the bus he was travelling in plunged into the Nandi Escarpment on Friday injuring several students.

The group was on its way to the festival.

Anyasia was a long-serving Swahili poetry trainer and adjudicator.

Booker emerged top in Class 398 featuring Zilizopendwa with instruments at the ongoing Kenya Schools and Colleges National Music Festival in Mombasa county.

The music sector was dealt yet another blow following the death of Risper Oduor, a member of the executive committee of the Kenya Music Festival, who until her death was a music trainer at Nairobi's Makongeni Primary School.

Oduor was a member and director of the Muungano National Choir.
