Tanzania: Media Experts Stress People's Right to Information

AS the Tanzania media fraternity is eagerly waiting for the Freedom of Information bill, Indian media gurus have hinted that government accountability and war against corruption could only be enhanced through having in place a well-defined right of information scenario.

Speaking during the discussions entitled "A Right to Information Law, Experience from a Non-Party People's Organisation and the People's Right to Information," Mr Nikhil Day from MKSS India noted the Constitution of India acknowledges that Indian people exercise their sovereignty in a responsible, ethical and effective manner and must have the right to know.
