Algeria: Significant Decrease in Road Accidents During Month of Ramadan 2014

Algiers — Road accidents have "significantly" decreased during the holy month of Ramadan (1,084 accidents) compared with the month of Ramadan of the previous year where a total 1,392 accidents were recorded, said Wednesday the Directorate General of the National Police in a toll.

A total of 64 people were killed and 1,469 others were injured in these accidents, said the source.

The number of road accidents dropped by 22,12% (308 cases), injured (14,34%, -246) and deaths (7,24%, - 5 cases).

This decrease is due to the awareness campaigns and actions conducted by the police services throughout all the national territory, said the source.
