Somalia: AMISON Liberates Three Villages in Hiran Region

African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops on Thursday (August 14th) took over control of three villages in Hiran region from al-Shabaab militants, Radio Bar-Kulan reported.

The Bardere, Berhano and Tarejante villages are situated between the two major regional towns of Beledweyne and Bulo Burde, also previously seized from al-Shabaab control.

The operation is part of a broader push against al-Shabaab, with AMISOM troops reportedly heading towards the village of Nur Fanah. Another battalion of Ethiopian forces serving under AMISOM was seen on Thursday arriving in the villages of Luq Jenow and Baar, west of Beledweyne.
