Nigeria: Adamawa - Drama As AG Governor Picks Guber Ticket

Another dimension was yesterday added to the political equation of Adamawa State as acting governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri picked the intent expression form to contest the gubernatorial by- election slated to hold on 11th October 2014, under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

Fintiri was the first person known to have officially bought the gubernatorial ticket, following the release of the election timetable by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The acting governor, who confirmed picking the nomination form in a telephone chat, says his action was sequel to the pressure mounted on him by the people of the state who were satisfied with his style of leadership.

According to him, "I have no alternative other than to yield to the clarion call on me to contest the election by various groups and settings in the state," he said.

He added, "The voice of the people is the voice of God and I have no option than to succumb to the pressure by the people of Adamawa to join the race."
