Kenya: Nurses' Call Off Strike After Pay

The impending strike by nurses in Siaya county was called off after salaries were wired to their accounts on Thursday evening.

The 1,500 nurses had planned to down their tools due to delayed July salaries. They were to convene at Ahindi Gardens, Siaya town, and march to Governor Cornel Rasanga's office.

However, the strike was called off yesterday morning after the county government wired money to all workers' accounts, Kenya National Union of Nurses Siaya secretary Sylvester Nyanda said.
