Kenya: Kitale Youth and Shinyalu Win Copa Coca Cola Under-15 Titles

18 August 2014

Rift Valley's Kitale Youth and Shinyalu Girls from Western are the 2014 COPA Coca-Cola under-15 national champions. The two teams emerged this year's winners after winning the boys and girls' final matches respectively on post match penalties. Shinyalu beating Cherangany Starlets 4-2 while Kitale overpowered Lakers 5-4 at the City Stadium on Saturday.

Lakers will count themselves twice unlucky after suffering similar fate at the hands of ousted champions JMJ Academy during the final match last year at the same venue. The boys' final was a tightly contested affair with both teams showing they deserved to be playing the finals. Kitale, who beat the Lakeside outfit 2-0 in their Group 'A' preliminary match earlier in the week, were quick off the blocks taking the lead inside two minutes. Eric Wafula sliced open the Lakers' defence before slotting home through the legs of Eric Ochieng in Kisumu goal.
