Somalia: Quarry Men Die While On Duty

Two men who were working at a quarry where they used to extract stones for building purposes died after the quarry collapsed. The quarry is near Keydsaney Hospital in Mogadishu's Kaaraan District. Quarry Miners Cooperation chairman, Mr. Ali Mohamud Mohamed told Dalsan Radio that the men died after a quarry called Raybalka collapsed and were hit by huge stones. He also confirmed that a third quarry man was injured in the incident.

This is not the first time Raybalka Quarry collapsed. 35 quarry men lost their lives there this year only. Mr. Ali also requested from Banadir Administration to give protective equipments to the quarry men who produce the stones and the whitewash used for buildings in Mogadishu.
