Nigeria: 2015 Election May Be Rigged - Balarabe Musa

Kaduna — Former governor of Kaduna State, AbdulKadir Balarabe Musa, has said the 2015 general elections won't be free and fair from all indications.

Musa who spoke to Daily Trust in Kaduna yesterday said the conditions for credible election in Nigeria are missing, adding that what could be obtainable instead, are the deciding factors of electoral malpractice. Some of these factors he said include money power, incumbency and terror.

He also said the INEC cannot conduct free and fair elections because its chairman was appointed by the president in accordance with the constitution. He added that for INEC to be truly self-governing and neutral in electoral processes, it has to be funded separately. He said the president can interfere with the work of the commission.
