Nigeria: Mysterious Fire Guts NFF Secretariat

Abuja — A strange fire gutted the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) secretariat in Abuja yesterday and caused activities to be paralysed at the 'Glass House'.

Workers, journalists and guests scampered in different directions when the fire began at about 10.30 am. According to THISDAY checks, the fire started on the second floor and before the inferno could be controlled, it had gutted the wing sheltering the office of the Secretary General, the Accounts Department and IT section. Policemen, plain-clothed security men and officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), immediately took over security at the football house.
