Kenya: Mwingi Locals Riled By Inflated Water Bills

RESIDENTS of Mwingi subcounty have protested high water bills. Speaking outside the Kiambere Mwingi Water and Sanitation Company yesterday, a resident Kiilu Musya said the company has been inflating water bills.

"We pay Sh580 every month as water bill when there is not water supply in Mwingi," he said. Musya said the company has failed to provide residents with stable water supply. "Most of the times there is no water in residential houses and we wonder how they calculate the bills," he said.

Musya said residents pay equal water bills despite the company having water meters. He said said residents recently met the firm's officials led by a Mr Paul Kinuba to raise their complaints but the situation remains the same.
