Tanzania: TADEA Party Engulfed By Political Turmoil

TANZANIA Democratic Alliance (Tadea) has called upon the Registrar of Political Parties to intervene in the current standoff that has engulfed the party.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday in Dar es Salaam, the TADEA Acting national chairman who also doubles as chairman of TADEA in Nyasa District, Mr Joackim Mwingira, said.

"Our party is now in great conflicts one of it being the move by our former chairman Mr Lifa Chipaka. Mr Chipala want to transfer the party headquarters from Dar es salaam to Mwanza for his own interest."

He also said that apart from that move which is not supported by any Tadea member the former chairman has also sold the party to Maswa West Member of Parliament Mr John Shibuda something which it is against the constitution.

"We are totally against the move by our former chairman to sell the party and also we don't support in any way the idea of transferring the headquarters to Mwaza," said Mwingira adding that; they also do not support the ideas of Mr Shibuda of either becoming their leader or becoming party member.

He added that the former Tadea chairman, Mr Chipaka, is no longer recognized as the chairman of the party because the party central committee has already banned and relieved him of his duties as chairman.

Mr Mwingira further explained that they have already written a letter to the register informing him about the ongoing conflict and thus they need quick measures before the party falls apart.

Also on the other hand the Maswa West MP, Mr Shibuda, denied the allegations raised against him saying he had never had any talk with Tadea leader(s) about the issue of buying such party.

When reached to give his comments about such allegations Mr Shibuda said "First of all I have not bought and I will not buy any political party and to me that is a tall story and secondly I have never had any discussion with Tadea leaders concerning the move of joining, buying or even becoming their party leader...those are gutter politics," said Shibuda.

"Am a well renowned politician and I have been a good leader for all these years therefore; because of that any political party will want my service and thus it is not my task to find a political party to join. However I will not join any political party," he added.
