Somalia: Somali Counter-Terrorism Expert Killed By Roadside Bomb in Mogadishu

Somali security forces launched an operation in Mogadishu's Huriwa district Friday morning (August 22nd) after a roadside bomb Thursday afternoon killed a senior security officer, Somalia's Goobjoog News reported.

Ahmed Abdirahman Isse, described as a security expert in counter-terrorism operations, was killed in the blast, which reportedly targeted his car as he drove near the SOS Hospital in northern Huriwa district, according to RBC Radio.

The bomb also injured at least two civilian bystanders.

The Ministry of National Security has not commented on the incident.
