Nigeria: National Development Strategy Series Access to Energy

23 August 2014

I HAVE told you over the last few months that I have been writing this column that there are nine pillars or National development. And that in order to design a winning National Development strategy you must be able to first understand the nine pillars of development and then know how to get these pillars to work for you to stimulate economic activity and create jobs. We all need energy to work, to play or to get anything done. And the World itself cannot function without energy. The World however is covered in energy, in fact the abundance of energy in this World if calculated may actually be unlimited, at least beyond human ability to count. There ae not enough numbers in our numbering system to calculate the amount of energy available in this World. And I do mean just the Earth, I am not yet talking about the Solar System, the Galaxy or the Universe. Energy is everywhere and is everything and I will prove it to you.

Every primary school child knows that the entire Universe is made up of but four things. That is everything you know and everything you see and feel and smell and touch are all but four things in all. And those are Space, Time, Matter and Energy. However if you go a little deeper you will find that what we are taught in school is very wrong and our more elevated thinking tells us that the entire Universe and all the Worlds in it are but made up of two things and not four. And these two things are Space-time and Energy. Albert Einstein told us that time was relative and that time and space were indeed one and the same thing. He felt and he proved that you could not really divorce space from time. And that the relationship between the two was quite exciting and required more study. So space and time are the same thing, and when you study the Cosmos you will come closer to understanding why space and time have to be the same thing. Now as far as Matter is concerned we all know that matter is just compressed energy. Every single particle of every single atom of every single molecule of every single compound is just some form of energy compressed in different ways. Again Einstein taught us that E=MC2, which shows us that there was a close relationship between Energy and Mass. And if the equation was true it meant that all Matter had mass and could be broken down to its component parts to unleash its energy. This was proven with the design and testing of the first Atomic Bomb and subsequent thermo nuclear devices and missiles which followed afterwards. The amount of energy released from the nuclear fusion or the nuclear fission is what creates the greatest explosions known to man and emits the most deadly form of radiation, this is energy that was compressed in the atom or in the nucleus of an atom. So the entire World and in fact our entire Universe is simply Space-time and Energy and that is a fact. Every human being you know, your brother, your mother, your girlfriend or your teacher are all just forms of compressed energy walking around in a Space-time continuum. So energy is actually very abundant contrary to popular belief that Energy is a scare resource. Energy is everywhere and in everything. The only problem is we do not understand how to harness the energy safely for domestic use, even in Nations that have been relying on Nuclear energy to power industry, have had to endure nuclear radiation accidents such as in Chernobyl in Ukraine in April of 1986 when it Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union, or more recently in Fukushima Daiichi, Japan in 2011.
