Nigeria: Digital Broadcasting - NBC, Others to Spend N60 Billion

Few months to the deadline set by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for all member countries to transit from analogue to digital broadcasting, otherwise referred to as Digital Switch Over (DSO), the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Mr. Emeka Mba, has said that government and other stakeholders, would require more than N60 billion for the completion of the switch over before June, 2015.

He promised that digital free-to-air will remain a fundamental part of television broadcasting in the country, adding that NBC would soon advertise its Expression of Interest (EoI) for the thematic free to air TV stations like sports, children, news and health television stations.
