Gambia: Jammeh Effects Minor Cabinet Reshuffle

The president of the Republic, His Excellency Sheikh Prof. Alh. Dr. Yahya Jammeh Nasirul Deen Babili Mansa, acting under the provision of relevant sections of the constitution Monday evening announced a minor reshuffle that saw two people join the cabinet.

A press release sent to this medium indicated that President Jammeh, acting under the provisions of Section 71(4) (b) of The Gambia constitution has relieved Mama Fatima Singhateh of her appointment as attorney general and minister of Justice.

"In the same vein", the release went on, "His Excellency the president of the Republic, acting under the provision of Sections 71(1) and 71(3) of the constitution has made the following appointments and reassignments - Mr. Basirou Mahoney as attorney general and minister of Justice; Hon. Bala Garba-Jahumpa, former minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure reassigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Mr. Ousman Badjie as minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure".

The appointments and reassignments, according to the release, took effect 25th August, 2014.
