Nigeria: James Onanefe Ibori - a Birthday Tribute

About three weeks ago (exactly August 4), I rushed down to the village to spend quality time with my ailing sweet mother. I ended up spending three weeks with her, and my joy is that within that period of time her health significantly improved and she increasingly regained her effervescent presence of mind. To God alone be all the glory.

I returned back to my Lagos base last night. I was very restless as I was taking my bath. It was as if I was inadvertently missing out on something significant and it bothered me a lot that I couldn't readily place my finger on what was amiss. Not too long after, however, it hit me hard and fast: August 4 - the very same day I had left to keep my mother company - marked Chief James Onanefe Ibori's 56th birthday anniversary!
