The recent disclosure by the Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, to the effect that Nigeria's generated electric power capacity had dropped to 2,628.6 megawatts, was no doubt a disheartening piece of news to millions of Nigerians. Over the years, socio-economic activities in the country have been slowed down largely by perennial insufficient and unstable electricity as a result of low power generation and distribution.
The minister while giving an update on the state of electricity had revealed that Nigeria's electricity generation as at August 9, 2014 was 2,628.6 megawatts, indicating a sharp drop from the little above 4,000MW, which government had recently announced as the country's generated power. By implication, Nigerians were expected to bear another gruesome experience of nationwide load shedding and attendant adverse impact on socio-economic activities.
