Rwanda: At Big RPF Meeting, Kagame Denounces Indisciplined Party Members

2 September 2014

At the meeting of the extended RPF Politburo on Sunday in Petit Stade, the small arena at the Amahoro Stadium, President Kagame pulled no punches denouncing those party members who would sacrifice the safety of the country at the altar of their greed, egos and arrogance. The President, who did not name names, talked at length about how the RPF has built Rwanda, taking it from the precarious situation it was in 20 years ago to the growing, stable and prosperous country it is today.

Hence today, said the head of state who was clad in a dark RPF party tee shirt and dark casual trousers, strong institutions are in place to deal with all kinds of issues, including dealing with whoever may undermine Rwanda's safety and with it the gains the country has made. "We used to be in the bush, and indiscipline in the RPF was dealt with even then; now we are working in the context of a nation; there are national institutions, courts of law, and they will do their work properly and deal with those indisciplined party members," said Kagame who was speaking in Kinyarwanda.
