Somalia: Ahmed Godane Survives Drone Attack

U.S. defense officials confirm reports that leader of the terrorist group al-Shabab was the target of recent attack in Somalia. Carla Babb has more. ( Resource: Pentagon: Attack Targeted Al-Shabab Leader

According to media reports, the overall leader of Alshabaab Ahmed Godane survived the drone attack of last night. Unidentified senior member of Alshabaab confirmed that Ahmed survived the attack. He said Ahmed left the scene moments before the attack. The drones attacked a forest near Sablaale town which is 170km away from Mogadishu. It is not the first time drones attacked Alshabaab leaders. In January this year, a senior Alshabaab intelligence officer was killed in drone attack.
