Ethiopian Airlines Launches Flights to Madrid

Ethiopian Airlines announced on Monday (September 1) that it had launching a new flight to Madrid, the capital of Spain. The Chief Executive, Ato Tewolde Gebremariam, said the new route to Madrid would be a key enabler to expediting investment, tourism and trade relations between Spain and 49 other destinations in Africa as well as offering efficient and reliable connectivity options between Spain and Eastern and Southern parts of the African continent "through our hub in Addis Ababa."

He said Spain was a major originating and destination country for tourists, and underlined that Ethiopian's "convenient and seamless" connectivity with Europe would enable its customers to "enjoy wider choice of connectivity options when travelling between Europe and Africa." Miguel Fernandez, Ambassador of Spain to Ethiopia, pointed out that the newly launched flight to Madrid would increase people-to-people relations as well as scale up the bilateral ties of Ethiopia and Spain to new levels.
