Liberia: Resignation Calls Baseless

2 September 2014

Monrovia — Dissent and public outcries continue to grow against the slow pace of development since President Sirleaf took state power or at least since her second term. Resultant frustration and despair from the situation has driven some Liberians to call for the resignation of the President, particularly if she can't boggle up. The sluggish response of Government to the Ebola crisis resulting into the rapid spread of the pandemic and high death rate has particularly sharpened dissenting voices including the calls for resignation. The Analyst reports.

The self-styled North Central Alliance (NCA), which claims to a conglomerate of citizens from Nimba, Bong, Lofa, Gbarpolu and Margibi counties, has described as hypocritical and constitutionally baseless a called by certain Liberians for President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and Her Vice President, Hon. Joseph N. Boakai to resign their respective positions.
