Nigeria: Splendid Foundation Holds Creative Writing Workshop in Lagos

5 September 2014

NIGERIA is blessed with many young creative minds, whose primary need is guidance. And that exactly is what Splendid Literature & Culture Foundation (SLCF) provides through its Creative Writing Workshop. On August 22 and 23, 2014, 30 young writers - most of whom are between ages 11 and 21 and at the beginning or intermediate levels of writing - honed their writing skill at King's College, Lagos.

Award-winning writer, past vice chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors, pioneer president of Women Writers of Nigeria, and founder of SLCF, Mobolaji Adenubi, led five other facilitators to teach them the 'Mechanics of Writing'. Adenubi taught plotting, character development, description and points of view, among others. Oyindamola Olofinlua taught "Copyediting 101," with focus on how writers can first edit their own writing.
