Sudan: Secondary School Teachers Strike in North Darfur's El Fasher

8 September 2014

El Fasher Locality — The strike by secondary school teachers in El Fasher locality, North Darfur, entered its second day today. The teachers embarked on a strike in protest against salary payment arrears, and the non-application of bonuses and other dues, a secondary school teacher reported to Radio Dabanga from El Fasher today (Monday).

"Before the strike, we had formed a committee to demand our rights. The committee addressed the responsible authorities about the arrears and the bonuses, to no avail. Therefore we decided to embark on a strike to invigorate our demands."
