Ethiopia: President Mulatu Conveys New Year Wishes to Ethiopians

Ethiopians celebrated the country's New Year on Thursday, Meskerem 1, 2007 (September 11, 2014). President Dr Mulatu Teshome expressed his best wishes to the people of Ethiopia in connection with 2007 Ethiopian New Year. In a message, on behalf of the Government and of himself, the President said he hoped the New Year would be a year of success for all the nations, nationalities and people of Ethiopia.

The President called on all Ethiopians to join hands to realize the renaissance of the country and underlined the need to give due attention towards attracting investment in the manufacturing sector. As usual, the President granted an amnesty, on this occasion to nearly a thousand criminals and urged those pardoned to become peaceful and productive citizens once they are back in the society. Those pardoned were people who had demonstrated good behavior and were not prisoners who had committed serious offences.
