Ethiopia: City Chamber Election, Court Battle

The highly controversial election of the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Association (AACCSA) conducted in December, 2013, and saw the election of Elias Genete as its president was declared null and void by the Federal First Instance Court's 5th Commercial Bench in favor of United Insurance SC on May 19th.

The insurance company, whose major share is held by the former president of the chamber, Eyesuswork Zafu, filed a charge on December 31, 2013 asking the Court to reject the 9th general assembly meeting, which it says was held without the establishment of a quorum.
