Kenya: Statement By Muhammad Swazuri, Chairman of the National Land Commission, On the Illegal Allocation of Land in Lamu and State Lodges

It will be recalled that last month, in a televised national address, His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered the National Land Commission and the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development to revoke titles and repossess 500,000 acres of land allocated to 22 companies in Lamu.

It will also be recalled that subsequently, the National Land Commission itself, while investigating allocations of public land in the past, uncovered the hiving off and allocation of land belonging to State Houses and/or State Lodges across the country.
