Nigeria: Ebola - NUT Directs Teachers Not to Resume On September 22

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has directed her members to stay away from schools on September 22, 2014, until the federal government puts in place equipment that will help fight and prevent the spread of the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

The NUT president, Comrade Micheal Olukoya who addressed newsmen after a National Executive Council meeting in Abuja, said the federal government in collaboration with states and local government councils should use the closure period to mount intensive training programmes for teachers, aimed at tackling the situation, stressing that "adequate sanitisers and body temperature scanners for all schools in the country must be put in place to protect teachers and school children".
