Ghana: Monetary Policy Committee Maintains Policy Rate At 19 Per Cent

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has decided to maintain the monetary policy rate at 19 per cent, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Henry Kofi Akpenamawu Wampah, has announced.

Dr Wampah, who was addressing the media in Accra, yesterday, after the 61st meeting of the MPC, said in arriving at the decision, the Committee took into consideration risks to growth and inflation, fiscal pressures and the volatilities in exchange rates, expected inflows from the Eurobond and the cocoa syndicated loan which would provide liquidity on the foreign exchange market and government's fiscal consolidation efforts which were expected to be strengthened under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme, among others.
