The manner in which the National Assembly of Zambia, commonly referred to as Parliament, handled the media fraternity assigned to cover the Fourth Session of the Eleventh National Assembly by President Michael Sata on September 19, 2014 shall always be treated with suspicion.
This is so because ever since the issue of the President's good or ill health gained prominence we have seen individual journalists and media houses harassed and threatened by not just Patriotic Front cadres and members but also the Zambia Police and other government or statutory institutions like the Independent Broadcasting Authority, IBA. I may be wrong but this is what I have observed in the last few months and is the genesis of journalists being barred from covering President Sata.
