Sierra Leone: Chinese Ambassador Zhao Yanbo and Sierra Leonean President Koroma Inspect the Mobile Laboratory and Ebola Holding Center in Sierra Leone-China Friendship Hospital

On 26 September, 2014, Chinese Ambassador Zhao Yanbo and Sierra Leonean President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma inspected the mobile laboratory and Ebola holding center in Sierra Leone-China Friendship Hospital. Vice President Mr. Samuel Sam-Sumana, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. Ebun Strasser-King, Minister of Health and Sanitation Dr. Abubakarr Fofanah, Minister of Defense Major Rtd. Alfred Conteh, Minister of Transport and Aviation Mr. Leonard Koroma and other senior Sierra Leonean officials attended the event. Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), Awoko Newspaper, Concord Times, Xinhua News Agency and Associated Press covered the event.

Ambassador Zhao briefed President Koroma on the mobile laboratory and Ebola holding center in Sierra Leone-China Friendship Hospital, and stated that it's very crucial to cut off the transmission chain to stop the spread of Ebola virus. He believed that the mobile laboratory will increase Sierra Leone's capacity of early detection of suspected cases and diagnosis for identification. Ambassador Zhao indicated that as a true friend of Sierra Leone, China stands together with Sierra Leone to fight against Ebola. He encouraged the Chinese medical experts to work closely with their Sierra Leonean colleagues to help Sierra Leone contain Ebola at an early date.
