South Sudan: U.S. Pledges Another U.S.$83 Million in Emergency Aid for South Sudan

Washington — The United States will send nearly $83 million in additional emergency assistance for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in South Sudan and South Sudanese refugees in Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan and Uganda, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Anne Richard announced September 29.

The additional funding was announced at the annual meeting of the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees' governing Executive Committee in Geneva. This announcement brings the total U.S. emergency assistance for the South Sudan crisis in fiscal year 2014 to more than $720 million.
