Kenya: Mosque Says Land Seized

30 September 2014

Mpeketoni Muslims have petitioned the National Land Commission over six acres belonging to the Azhar Mosque and allegedly invaded by a private developer.

The Mpeketoni Muslim Community want the NLC to help recover the land they say has been grabbed a tycoon. The land is said to have been under MMC for two decades. "This man has troubled us for 10 years now," MMC member Ibrahim Shahibu told the Star yesterday. "He has taken all the mosque land and only left a quarter of an acre. We have all the necessary ownership documents. The NLC and Lands ministry should help us," he said.
