Rwanda: Former RSSB Director to Remain in Jail

The Nyarugenge intermediate court judge has ruled on Thursday in a favor of a 30-day pretrial detention for former Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) director Angelique Kantengwa, who is charged with embezzlement of public funds amounting to Frw 1.6 billion.

Announcing the arguments for his decision, the judge said that Kantengwa, who was not present in the court, is charged with serious crimes, and therefore he was unable to grant bail.
