Kenya: Kimaiyo Orders Police Chiefs Not to Address Media

Kenya's Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo instructed county and divisional police heads to refrain from speaking to the media at crime scenes, prompting criticism from police commanders, Kenya's The Standard reported Wednesday (October 1st).

Kimaiyo issued a circular two weeks ago threatening disciplinary action against police heads who speak with the press. He instructed county police bosses and divisional heads to brief the media through the office of the spokesperson.
