Namibia: Accused Disputes Confessions On Well Murders

ALLEGED confessions by two men accused of murdering two people whose skeletal remains were found in a disused well on a farm in the Mariental district at the end of July 2009 were not made freely and voluntarily, the defence lawyers representing the two accused claimed in the Windhoek High Court on Monday.

The claims were made by defence lawyers Winnie Christians, representing Johannes Eichab, and Titus Mbaeva, representing Raynoldt ('Jacky') Windstaan, when they told Judge Naomi Shivute about the basis for their objections against the prosecution's plan to use admissions and alleged confessions made by Windstaan and Eichab as evidence in their trial.
