Western Sahara: Uruguay Defends Just Solution Providing for Self-Determination of Saharawi People

New York — Permanent Ambassador of Uruguay to the UN, Gonzalo Koncke, said Tuesday, before the UN Fourth Committee, it is crucial to resume conversation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Polisario Front, calling for respect of the right of self-determination of the people of Western Sahara.

The Uruguayan diplomat went on saying that it is crucial right now that conversation between Morocco and the Polisario Front "be resumed promptly, in good faith and with a view to achieving a just, lasting and mutually acceptable solution to this conflict, providing for self-determination of the people of Western Sahara in accordance with the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations and the Resolution 1514 and other relevant resolutions of the General Assembly and the Security Council."
