It also said two Ethiopian peacekeepers were killed immediately while a third, who was wounded, later succumbed to his injuries.

The Ministry conveyed its deepest condolences to the families of the fallen peacekeepers and to the people of Ethiopia. The UN Security Council in a press statement condemned the killing of three UN peacekeepers in Korma, North Darfur, "by a group of unidentified armed men on 16 October 2014, which resulted in the death of three Ethiopian peacekeepers." The members of the Security Council expressed their deepest condolences to the families of the peacekeepers and to the Government of Ethiopia and to UNAMID.
