Young Gambian mathematicians recently participated in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) held at the University of Cape Town, in South Africa. The students are: Ebrima LK Njie, Saffiatou Joof, Hadim Mbye, Adama Daffeh, Modou Colley and Junior B. Jawara.
The IMO, a world championship mathematics competition among high school students under the age of 20, is held annually in different countries. This year's is the 55th edition and the first held in Africa was attended by about 636 students from 109 countries. This covered 90% of the world population.
