Kenya: Ongwae Warns Men Against Twilight Girls

MEN who hire sex workers in Kisii county will be arrested and prosecuted, Governor James Ongwae has said. He said many young girls engage in sex work for their livelihood. "This time were will instruct the law enforcers not to bother to arrest the girls but to focus on men," Ongwae said. He said the county will soon crack down on promoters of the illegal trade.

Speaking during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Gusii Stadium on Monday, Ongwae said sex trade is to blame for the increase in HIV-Aids. The county's HIV rate rate is at 8.9 per cent, far above the national rate of 5.6 per cent, he said.
