Abuja — Former Governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, has said the question of seeking waivers to run for the senatorial election in his state does not arise as he returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as far back as 2010 when Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo was national chairman of the party.
In an interview with THISDAY over the controversy of waivers to enable him contest for the Abia North senatorial election, he said: "I am not supposed to be talking about waivers because I am a founding member of the PDP and the party constitution says after being in the party for more than two years, you don't need a waiver. "As it stands now in the PDP, I cannot be talking about waivers. I have bought my form at the national secretariat to contest the primary election for the party primary for the senate and I don't want to engage anyone in the controversy of those using party machinery or propaganda. What they are doing is not democratic and proper. They should allow me to rest. No issue of waiver was raised when I bought my form.
